A Healer In The House

Pastor's Sermon Points 10/01/17

Scripture Text: Mark 2 1-12 NLT

Subject: A Healer In The House

INTRODUCTION:  History would reveal to us that this country was founded on the premises of religious freedom. The Founding Fathers went to great lenghts to ensure and maintain the separation of Church and state. And in doing so these men sought to give the government power that the church seemly does not possess.

The government can and will enact legislation and in turn enforce laws to get people to behave in a certain manner. The government passes legislation and then puts people in jail to get them to behave in certain ways. The law says in Section 550.021 through 550.027 that if you are the first to arrive at the scene of a serious accident and don't stop; you can go to jail for failure to render aid. The law says if you know someone is neglecting or other wise abusing another person and you don't report it; you can be charged with negligence. If the person dies you can even be charged with negligent homicide.

All the Church has is some commands in a book that was written over 2000 years ago and has yet to be fulfilled in its entirety. A book in which the King of kings and the Lord or lords says to us: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."

See the world has laws that govern how they ought to treat those who cannot help themselves. Those who are not able to make sound decisions on life's issues.

The Church's mission in today's world is to proclaim Christ as Savior and to put forth efforts to bring sinners to Jesus.

The real work of the Church in this Dispensation of Grace is to help the helpless get to the Healer, who is Jesus the Christ.
